The business case for diversity is undisputed. Research confirms that a team comprised of diverse professionals produces better and more innovative results. In light of ABA Resolution 113, the Mansfield Rule and recent, specific client calls and incentives for greater diversity in outside legal talent, the biggest and best law firms continue to be challenged by insufficient retention and promotion to partnership of women, ethnically diverse, and LGBTQ attorneys. A dynamic panel consisting of a diverse partner from Big Law and four corporate counsel will be moderated by an executive coach specializing in legal talent development to:
(i) showcase the critical value of grooming diverse attorneys for advancement through client interaction and commitment to authentic and enduring relationship building; and
(ii) discuss recent efforts on the part of corporate decision makers, with the power to determine legal spend, to strongly encourage meaningful contributions of diverse practitioners and genuinely promote diverse leadership.
