Dolma Sherpa
Administrative Assistant
In my role as an administrative assistant at Greiner Consulting Group, I provide crucial support by handling client communications and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. In addition to performing administrative tasks, I also take on ad hoc projects to support the team’s needs and help maintain efficiency.
What drew me to Greiner Consulting Group was the interview process, where I experienced the company’s values and culture firsthand. The small, tight-knit team, supportive structure, and emphasis on open communication really stood out to me. What I enjoy most about my role is recognizing the importance of the operational and administrative tasks that often go unnoticed. These tasks are crucial to keeping everything running smoothly. I also value getting a full 360-degree view of how a business operates, which has been an incredible learning experience. The flexibility and opportunity to take on new projects, like data organization and optimization, have been especially rewarding and even influenced my decision to pursue graduate studies.
Having been born and raised in Kathmandu and spending a significant part of my life in a boarding school, I’ve developed a strong sense of balance between collaboration and personal responsibility. These experiences have shaped my worldview, teaching me the importance of interdependence while also owning my role within any team. I believe that every individual’s unique experiences shape their perspectives, which is why I value learning from others. This philosophy carries over into my work at Greiner Consulting Group, where I depend on my colleagues just as much as they can rely on me. I take ownership of my responsibilities and actively seek opportunities to go beyond what’s expected to grow both personally and professionally.
While I’ve had the opportunity to develop several skills at GCG, many tie back to communication. Specifically, I’ve sharpened my written communication, which has significantly improved my ability to convey ideas with clarity, precision, and impact. This skill has been incredibly rewarding, as it ensures that my insights are not only understood but also embraced and acted upon effectively.
What I find most fulfilling about supporting the team and clients at GCG is knowing my contributions help everything run smoothly and thus more productively. Whether managing existing duties or tackling new projects, it is rewarding to see how my work directly impacts the team’s success and client satisfaction, while also providing opportunities for personal growth.
This is my first semester, and I’m really enjoying learning Python, as well as the foundations of Database Management Systems and Statistics. The courses are very problem-solving oriented, which keeps my brain engaged and I am constantly thinking, which I very much enjoy. Aside from the program itself, I’m also discovering new time management strategies and learning how to work differently than I did during my undergraduate years. It’s been an interesting process of adapting and finding what works best for me in this new environment.
I love being around people, so in my free time, you’ll often find me with my niece or friends. If I’m not with them, I’m likely on FaceTime with my family back in Nepal. I’m also keen on trying new experiences, be it experimenting with a new recipe, sharing a comic book, starting a new series, or maintaining my Duolingo streak. One thing that remains consistent, though, is my love for taking walks. Whether it’s through Central Park, LIC, or Astoria, I’m grateful to live in such a walkable city, and you can usually find me enjoying a leisurely stroll when I’m not dashing to work or school.
